Quiet Chesapeake Bay cove at dusk with pine trees reflected in still water.
Our Story

From the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay to your house.

Salt & Drift began on a stretch of shoreline where the pines lean toward the water and the tide leaves behind small treasures — scallop shells, oyster halves, weathered wood, sea glass worn soft by decades of drift.

Every piece in the studio starts as a walk along that shore. Shells are gathered by hand, rinsed, and set out to dry in the sun before they ever meet a brush or a sheet of gold leaf. Nothing is mass-produced. Nothing is rushed.

Wooden dock stretching out over the Chesapeake Bay at golden hour, weathered planks in the foreground and a piling silhouetted against the water.

The dock at the end of the yard — where most mornings begin.

Each keepsake box, shell dish, and coaster is finished in small batches on a workbench overlooking the bay. Decoupage layers are pressed by hand, gold rims are painted one edge at a time, and every piece is signed before it's wrapped.

When something ships from Salt & Drift, a little of the shoreline goes with it — the quiet of the water, the smell of the pines, the slow rhythm of a place built by tides. From the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay to your house.

More than anything, this little studio is a reason to slow down and make something with my daughter before she heads off to college in a few years. Every batch is time spent side by side at the workbench — sanding, painting, laughing, gilding edges — turning ordinary afternoons into something we'll both keep.
